About Me
Hello everyone, my name is Charlene Saia...
I am the Owner/Lead Trainer of Peaceful Pets Dog Obedience Training, LLC. Over the past 16 years...I have helped owners achieve wonders with their training goals while building a unique connection with their beautiful dogs. True success will occur when dogs feel safe with their trainer & when owners are educated on how to follow through correctly after each session. I would like to give you an idea of my passion for the well-being & care of our dogs...Throughout my life (in the past 43 years) I have owned a variety of breeds (male & female). In the family, we had American Eskimo’s..German Shepherds.. Pekingese..Labs.. Maltese..Golden’s..Belgian Malinois..Shepherd mixes..Alaskan Malamute..French Bulldogs..etc. Having a strong, personal bond with each one filled my heart with indescribable love. I have always been fascinated by their intelligence, individual personalities & how easily they become a part of our family. When working with clients, I have always taken into great consideration their dog’s comfort when entering a new home. Whether you have an older dog that needs to learn proper training, or took in a new dog/puppy… I want to be certain they are set up for success safely. I also want our dogs to learn how to interact/coexist with other pets in the house properly for the best outcome. Every single animal I work with is treated as my own with compassion and respect.
I decided to take my adoration for dogs to a different level and turned it into a satisfying career. I am a proud graduate and fully certified through Animal Behavior College. I have continued to expand my knowledge as an active member of the APDT (Association of Professional Dog Trainers) and IACP (International Association of Canine Professionals). I stay up to date on different training methods, as well as engaging in respectful conversations with other professionals in the industry. Both the APDT & IACP are member based associations that provide trainers with an outlet for positive networking. These associations also assist us in continuing our education to the highest standard for growth in our profession. The APDT supports LIMA (Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive Technique). I personally appreciate every approach toward positive reinforcement methods that all dogs can greatly benefit from. I wanted to be prepared in case of an emergency, so I am also proudly Dog & Cat CPR/First Aid Certified through the American Red Cross.
When I started Peaceful Pets, I wanted to keep training sessions a rewarding experience for all involved. I strive to keep sessions enjoyable for all dogs and owners. Every dog learns by trust and repetition. It’s essential that we devote time to their needs and have fun in the process!!! Even children take time to learn their 1st words, 1st steps, how to go potty on their own… so we must be patient and consistent with our dogs too. During the work I performed in the shelters from attending ABC, I witnessed innocent dogs being returned back. Too many dogs are rehomed, returned or even euthanized over behavioral issues that could have been resolved with proper handling and obedience. Over the years, I have had the pleasure of rehabilitating numerous dogs that had difficult experiences at no fault of their own. There is nothing more gratifying than seeing dogs trust their families and live to their full potential. It is a blessing to play such an important role in their development, and to witness their remarkable transformations. Puppies are impressionable just like human children and have phenomenal memories. All interactions early on during their critical developmental periods are crucial. Everything they experience at an early age will absolutely influence their behavior throughout their lives. I offer a wonderful program for puppies/younger dogs to set them up for a solid, well-behaved future. I truly want to help guide owners in the right direction when they obtain a new "pack member".
My Services
What I offer:
- Along with your requested goals, I make up personalized treatment plans around your dog’s specific needs. We will also cover critical exercises to help you avoid undesirable behaviors as time goes on (separation anxiety, resource guarding/territorial behavior…etc).
- During our 1st session, I will supply you with detailed paperwork full of useful information & excellent tips to refer back to. You are also guaranteed a thorough “sit-down” consultation where we will cover every important detail to get started on the right track.
- I supply fresh food rewards for each session & will leave the remaining treats with you to practice with (owners are more than welcome to use their own treats). I never want our dogs to become dependent on just food rewards alone during training. I will show you how to properly wean your dog off of treats while accomplishing a successful response to each exercise/cue. Our end goal is to get our dogs to respond to “verbal cues & praise” alone. We don’t want the food rewards to turn into a “crutch”.
- I supply 'clickers’ if we decide together that your dog will benefit from Clicker Training. Clickers are a positive training tool that most dogs respond to incredibly well. I will show you in detail how the clicker is applied for excellent results. PLEASE NOTE: Clicker Training has absolutely nothing to do with shock collar training. Clickers ”mark” the appropriate behavior we’re teaching with a sound that dogs build a positive association to. Clickers are highly effective when used consistently & can help us achieve faster results when teaching new cues. Dogs quickly learn that when they hear the “Click” that they did something really good & will be rewarded for it=)
- If needed, I will stay in contact with clients for any questions that may arise. Clients are more than welcome to reach out to me at any point during the training process with any concerns.
- Your dog walkers/pet sitters, friends & family members are welcome to take part in our sessions at no additional charge. It is important that they understand our training process as to not confuse any dog when they personally handle them. They are also more than welcome to reach out to me if any questions/concerns/training needs may arise when you are away on vacation/business…etc.
- If needed, I am more than happy to FaceTime/Skype/do a video call if anyone needs further assistance with instructions/exercises we have covered.
- Peaceful Pets, LLC will not ever use any sales pressure tactics. Clients have the choice to do any number of sessions they prefer. Clients have the option to pay on a per session basis, or clients can take advantage of a multiple session package for extra savings.
- Clients will be supplied with copies of our signed contracts, as well as receipts as proof of payment for your records.

- If you are expecting a baby, we can start to prepare your dog for the arrival of their new family member. We can safely get your dog adjusted to new routines, baby cribs/swings/playpens, all the new smells/sounds…etc.

- How to go to their “bed/place/spot”
- Proper Crate Training
- Proper Introductions to the new home (we will cover all the important ways to calmly get your dogs adjusted to their new environment & all appropriate training tools/devices to set them up for success safely)
- Proper ways to play with your dog to avoid unwanted behavior (this is especially important for our children to fully understand since many dogs can potentially perceive young children as other “dogs“. You can learn effective play to release energy, build up your dog’s listening skills & grow a stronger bond)
- Appropriate Toys!!! I will give you tips on your current toys & recommend other safe/durable/size appropriate/puzzle toys depending on your dog‘s development, breed, temperament & training requirements.
- Proper “Drop It/Leave It/Release” techniques
- Resource Guarding (mild)
- Teaching better “Focusing Skills” (getting our dogs to strongly engage with us, listen & look to us as their leaders)
- Sit, Down, Stay, Recall, Heel…

Peaceful Pets is committed to giving our local shelter/rescue animals the necessities they require to survive & flourish. We can selflessly shower these innocent dogs/cats/small animals with the same unconditional love that they so desperately want to bring to our lives. Our local shelters/rescues & their outstanding workers/volunteers/fosters count on our love & support to successfully fulfill their mission. Peaceful Pets will personally be donating & collecting donations each quarter of the year. At the end of each quarter, all of our donations will then be safely delivered & spread out according to each shelter/rescue’s needs at that given time. Even the smallest offering will add up & make a huge difference. 100% of the proceeds & items collected will be given directly to these amazing facilities. A picture of your contributions & appreciation to everyone will be posted on Peaceful Pet’s Facebook page once they receive “Our Loving Gifts”!!!
